CLIENT: National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
VALUE: $65M
ROLE: CM
A beacon on the Ohio River, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is an educational and interactive museum at the center of Cincinnati’s Historic Riverfront district. This 160,000 SF, 3-pod building includes interactive multi-media exhibits, 325-seat theater, history galleries, public forum rooms, research area, education resource center and a two-story slave pen. The center’s location overlooking the Ohio River, on top of a municipal parking garage and less than a block from the Reds’ Great American Ballpark, impacted the schedule and required tremendous cooperation with multiple entities. The challenges were many, but the team still maintained the original schedule, delivering the building on time.
♦ AWARDS & HONORS: Aon Build America Award, 2005
